Rewards night out October 27, 2009
Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closedCubs that had attended a % of group /pack /cub events this year enjoyed a night out at the cinema this evening watching Up 3D.
The cubs enjoyed themselves whilst russling, slurping and chatting throughout the film. They were very well behaved, well done.
Hopefully by rewarding the cubs for attending certain events throughout the year will encourage a better attendance at competitions, fund raisers and other cub activities.
Local Knowledge Badge October 13, 2009
Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closedOver the past few weeks cubs have been working on their Local Knowledge Badge.
We went for a trip to Weoley Castle Ruins earlier in the term, and the cubs were shown around and had the chance to try out costumes from history as well as acting out the time line.
Tonight cubs went for a tour around Selly Manor houses in Bournville.
We had a lovely evening being shown the houses, how the were built and what the locals did in the area at the time.
The cubs were given games and costumes to dress up in and we really did have a good night.
The cubs have been asked to design their own coats of arms, and we have had a good number of great designs. Also cubs are off to the Severn Valley Railway for the day in November to see the old trains and stations.
In all the cubs have worked really hard for their local knowledge badge and they really do deserve them. Well done cubs
Weoley Castle Ruins September 22, 2009
Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closedCubs had an enjoyable evening at Weoley Castle Ruins. They were given a guided tour around the site and were shown all the areas of the Ruins and what they were and what they were there for. They also were able to dress up in DUDLEY castle colours and wear clothing from the castle’s times.
The cubs were extremely well behaved and took great pleasure in asking questions about the ruins and were very interested in what they do there.
We must thank Kirsty for showing us around – we will be back in the spring helping out with some conservation work on site towards the cub scout awards

The past 10 days away have been exceptionally wonderful for both leaders and cubs alike.
I must take this opportunity to thank KAY (3rd St Rose) and JOHN (206th St Laurence) for being our group leaders whilst away.
The many hundreds of photos are now being uploaded to the cub website.
I hope the memories stay with the cubs for their lifetime. Thank you for being wonderfully behaved.

County Camp – Live the Magic 2009 – WOW what a camp July 5, 2009
Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closedWell County camp is over for yet another year. Wow this one was above all the best ever.
We started the weekend well, parents not having to wait long in traffic before entering the camp. with nearing 3000 campers arriving around the same time along one road was going to be challenging. But it wasnt as first feared. Well done County team for your super efforts.
The cubs were given passes to entertain them selves for the weekend, we couldn’t take part in all events because of shear numbers so events were chosen at random.
Cubs took part in – circus skills, football, water slide, black hole, go karts, crate staking, team building, water bombs, bouncy castles, crystal maze and a number of others. I think they enjoyed themselves immensely. I know they didnt sleep much nor the leaders 3.30am bed – 5.30am wake up – i need some sleep i know.
All st davids cubs were brilliantly behaved throughout the weekend, some tears but this was due to very tired cub scouts.
We now have to wait another 4 years till the next one – i cant wait
check out the cub photos in our online album
thank you parents for your support with this event.
