Well Done Cubs

Well done to all the cubs that entered in today’s chess and draughts competitions.

Our draughts team finished first in a very tight competition well done – Daniel J, Daniel C, Thomas L, Harrison

Our Chess team finished a creditable 2nd place well done – Sicheng, Alfie, Dylan and Ben R

Both competitions were very tight and places were within 1 or 2 points.

Photos of the competitions are being put online now.

District cub chess and draughts competition

Good luck to all 8 cubs, that are entering in the chess and draughts competitions on Saturday.

Chess – Alfie, Ben R, Sicheng and Dylan

Draughts – Harrison, Daniel C, Daniel J and Thomas L

All the cubs have been practicing hard at home to sharpen their skills and tactics and I hope they all have fun on Saturday make a few new friends and play some good games.

Happy Birthday – St David’s Scout Group

All sections helped to celebrate the groups 50th Birthday this evening. A very busy and noisy evening was had by beavers, scouts, cubs and explorers. Games included Pass the parcel, team games and meeting new friends. A huge amount of food was consumed by all.

Thank you to all the leaders for their support in putting on the celebration. Well Done St David’s here’s to another 50 brilliant years.

Sports Day

Cubs took part in the annual District Cub Sports day this weekend, after July’s sports day was cancelled due to being washed out.

All cubs worked very hard in their events and finished an outstanding 3rd place in the under 9½ / under 10½ and overall standings.

We were able to enter a full team into all events and this allowed all cubs to take part in at least two events each.

Great work cubs, and a huge thank you to all parents and supporters for a great effort.

Group 50th Birthday celebration camp

What a weekend we have all had. Apart from missing the major weather outbursts well we have managed to offer an excellent weekend to all our present young people. The beavers joined us for the day on Saturday – all going home very tired :-)

The cubs, scouts and explorers had a busy fun filled weekend – Crate Stacking, grass sledging, tree treking, climbing, abseiling, zip wire, archery, high all aboard, multi scramble to include a few. I dont think there has been a camp so exciting.

We celebrated in style with many st davids past members, many many old photos on show – extremely embarrassing for some :-) It was nice to see leaders from when the group started in 1961.

Thank you must go to Barb, Colin for organsing a wonderful event, and thanks to the NUMEROUS leaders and helpers who helped over the weekend, without their support and dedication to st davids scout group we would not have such an excellent group.

Group Camp

The program for group camp is now being booked and sorted.

We have so many activities which we hope to offer to the sections within the group.

Activities COULD include – Crate Stacking, Tree Trek, Abseiling, Climbing, Archery, Grass Sledges, Swimming as well as some of the high wire activities for the older sections.

The program will bring the sections together to camp at Blackwell and to celebrate our groups 50th Birthday in style.

If your child hasn’t already booked their place then do so immediately as places for activities is limited.

Cub Sports day Postponed

Cub Sports day today has been postponed due to the weather conditions we have been having today and during the night.

Summer Activities

Cubs have been out the hall for a few sessions this summer so far, and we continue this on Tuesday taking the cubs to our local golf driving range.

Just a reminder to all parents we meet early at 6.00pm and return at 8.00pm.

An amazing Pack Holiday

I would like to say thank you to all the cubs that went on pack Holiday this weekend. Yet again well behaved and very very hungry ;-) ive never know cubs eat so much food waste was very small ;-)

We were very lucky with the weather a bit breezy but wow it was hot.

We even had comments from the public at Kenilworth Castle of how polite and well behaved the cubs were ;-) The cubs made my life so much easier having lost my voice before we went, no shouting was needed ;-) good job really.

Nows time to sit down and relax ;-) Photos are being uploaded
