Wet Scout Camp May 26, 2008

Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closed

St David’s Scout Troop ventured off to Brecon for their annual Scout Camp on Saturday.

They had a nice day to put their tents up on Saturday and the rain hasn’t stopped since their arrival.

However the rain hasn’t stopped them continuing their program and they have started their camp gadgets, building their fires, collecting loads of wood.

They went off site today and took part in a high ropes course, similar to the high ropes at Blackwell court. In the wind and rain a number of the scouts reached the top so well done to them.

This evening they have been entertaining themselves with a BOAT RACE – don’t ask me if its in the water or on land (but still in the water) but from what i heard there was plenty of excitement going on.

The rest of the week looks like it will hopefully become warmer and brighter and they look forward to going to the beach on Thursday as well as a hike and yes more wood collecting for their fires.

Active Kids vouchers May 20, 2008

Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closed

I have counted the active kids vouchers this evening, we now have 7118 vouchers after this evenings meeting.

We have now only 2 weeks left to collect and i know there are many cubs out there that haven’t brought their vouchers in recently.

Cubs have been competing hard to try and collect the most vouchers for their six. I feel sorry for the sales staff at Sainsbury they must have parents begging for vouchers.

Any way keep collecting over half term and i hope we can break 8000 vouchers.

District 7 aside Competition May 17, 2008

Well done and thank you to Jack, Megan, Lily, Tom, Danny, Brett and Ben W for attending the football competition today. 3 of whom were only draft4ed into the team over the last 2 days due to low numbers. We also must thank Joe from 3rd St Rose whom also played his part in our teams great play.

St David’s played extremely well in cold and damp conditions, staying top of the league until the final game when unfortunately they lost the game. We had upto then been un beaten and scored some brilliant goals. We had been placed in a very tough league, Quinton, Ariel, St Faith, St Joseph and St Peters.

We missed out on a semi final place by goal difference which was disappointing but the whole team really played well throughout.

Quinton and Ariel progressed to the final – Quinton winning 5-0 to be crowned champions for the second year running. We congratulate them.

I hope we can progress further next year with more cubs taking an interest in the competition.

well done cubs, we will now take you to McDonalds as a thank you and well done.

Sainsbury’s vouchers

Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closed

We are still collecting the Sainsbury kids active vouchers, another 1028 were handed in this evening from cubs and beavers.

Which off the top of my head takes us past 6000 total so far.

Keep up the good work, we will hopefully be able to bring in loads of new equipment. I don’t know where we will store it but well find somewhere.

Only available until 4th June so keep sending them to your section meetings
