Flour Babies January 22, 2008

Posted by akela in : Cubs , comments closed

Cubs this evening began working towards the new Community Award. And part of this is to look after a pet for so many weeks.

Unfortunately some cubs dont have pets they can look after so Limmershin (Amy) introduced them all to a FLOUR BABY.

Flour Babies

They have had to decorate their baby, give it a face, and give it a name. With it they have all had a birth record card and weekly planner.

All the babies were weighed and their names were recorded.

The aim is for the cubs to look after this ‘baby’ for a week with out causing it any damage.

They will all be weighed next week – to see if they have lost weight or gained weight – by damage or getting wet.

We will see who was a good daddy or mummy to their baby.

No dont panic we didn’t say they had to take them to school!!!!!!!!

If you had seen how they carried them so carefully out the hall tonight and how they talked to them, it would have made you smile.

We just hope no parents use the flour !

The start of a new year and the start of booking and arranging this years pack holidays and camping season has begun.

We have planned only 2 camps this year one under canvas and the other indoors.

Pack Holiday (indoors)- Broadwater scout site – Henley In Arden Solihull – Friday 2nd may – Monday 5th may.

August Bank Holiday (under canvas)- Blackwell Court Bromsgrove – Thursday 21st August – Monday 25th August.

Letters inviting cubs to these camps will be sent out nearer the dates.

By publishing these dates allows parents and leaders to book their family holidays around camps.

Numbers will be limited and places will be given on a first come first served basis.

Camp places will only be offered to cubs whom have shown good behavior and good attitude during cub activities.

Scouts enjoy WET Coniston January 1, 2008

The scouts endured the annual Christmas time away at Coniston – Lake District.

Scouts and other members of the scout group look forward to these nights away.

Yet again a wet few days away but it looks like they enjoyed themselves.

Something the youngsters can look forward to every year, as well as the parents whom get a break during Christmas.
