Pinewood Derby Car Construction September 30, 2006

Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a comment

Cubs will find in the next three weeks that we are looking into activities that are highly popular in the USA.

Next week cubs will be painting their own new woggles.

The following three weeks will see cubs design, cut, paint and race their own Pinewood Derby Cars.

We will require substantial support from any parents who can use an electric saw to help the cubs cut their designs out of a block of wood.

District Sixers Weekend

Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a comment

This year sixer’s weekend was at Orchard Farm in Derbyshire.

St Davids cubs and Woodgate valley cubs joined together for the journey

It was quite a long journey but it was well worth it.

The Friday was basically travelling there and taking part in a quiz and joining new sixes for the weekend.

Everybody was exhausted and tired at bedtime. There meals were really nice and on the Sunday we had a tuck shop

Saturday was the most tiring day. We all got up knowing that we were going on a 8 mile hike. It taken us round about 5 hours altogether which includes the way there and back.

Sunday we went to Carsington waters, to look round the RSPB hide and have yet anotehr walk. The we had a play on the play area.

What a weekend

Well what a fun weekend 10 cubs and leaders had this weekend gone.

Cubs enjoyed - Archery, Climbing, Grass Sledging, Backwoods Cooking, Fire building and Lighting as well as loads of games and excitement.

The cubs were all well behaved and hopefully enjoyed themselves i know the leaders did.

If any cubs would like to write a brief summary of what they did have a go.

To the CUBS!!

hi guys, its been about a week, though I cant really keep track of time, half the time don’t even know what day is. all I need to know at times is a date and a time, so that I get to the next place on time. Well im on my last four days in New Zealand, next stop is Oz. Well I’ve been having a couple of wicked days and some not so. But that’s how it goes. I went Skiing yesterday, which was very fun, and then did some go karting down a hill, and that was very fun, if not slight risky. Well I guess everyone is back at school, I hope your enjoying it. and you should be back as cubs as well, which I know you will be enjoying. Well speak soon. GEZ

Cub Camp September 6, 2006

This week cubs returned after the 6 week holidays. Only 19 cubs returned some possibly on holiday still ;and others well who knows?

We have had only 9 cubs apply to attend cub camp next weekend at blackwell court which is the smallest number of cubs i think i have ever taken to camp. We are usually forced to take first come first served places.

I know 7 cubs are leaving to join scouts and are now too old to be permitted to attend cub camp but that should still leave a packof 29. Is it too soon after holidays or arent cubs wanting to go outdoors. The answers i do not have.

If your son would like to attend cub camp then let meknow

Well I’m in a cafe in NADI, which is main land Fiji. Just spent the last 5 days on islands of fiji, very nice though not much to do, a little kayaking, sailing, bike riding, swimming, snorkeling, village trips, sun,….. Its been ok. Funny being so far away from normal life, no power after 1000, no phones, half good food, really good on some islands.. I guess it the army really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love on an island called Bounty Island??? It was the island that Celeb Love Island was filmed, how cool, though ITV have just left it a mess. you might not knowing about it, though worth telling  you still!!!

Well I’m doing pretty well myself, meeting lots of new people, which is good, but doesn’t beat home really. Though I am mind you going to NZ 2mo, Which I’m looking  forward to and im seeing loads of mates from camp over the years.

I think there will be better stories once in NZ and OZ there is going to be a lot more to do.. The sun and the sea doesn’t really do it for me..

Akela reports that this web site isn’t working too well from England - although everything seems fine from here in the USA where it lives.

Apologies for the problems - I’ll look into it this week.
