Community Award September 26, 2008
Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a commentikki organized a visit this week for the cubs as they were starting to work on their Community Award. We had a visit from the areas local Sergeant as well as the community police officers.
The police brought their patrol car as well as the community officer brought her bike.
The officers even allowed the cubs to hold their handcuffs - i did ask if they had the keys just incase!!!
The cubs asked many questions about safety in our area and how they can keep safe when out and about. The police were very good with the cubs and even gave them all a yoyo each.
Photos are going up of the cubs all having a go in the police car - no one got arrested but may have got close on a couple of occasions!!!

Cubs will raise money for their chosen charity by Carol Singing in the community during Advent as well as a visit to the Space centre in Leicester. Our annual visit to the Pantomime will be a real treat in the new year.
The new term will see 5 cubs transfer to scouts and 5 beavers moving up. We wish them all well. the end of term we saw Amy leave following her studies and we wish her well in a new scout group in the future. Any parents wishing to add their names to the parent Rota please inform one of the leaders.

That Crazy moose!!! August 26, 2008
Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a commentMost of the weekend John, one of the leaders got the cubs singing silly songs around the site and having a lot of fun.
Well John couldn’t really remember the Crazy Moose song, so i have found it and here it is for all the cubs.
Crazy Moose

There was a crazy moose (There was a crazy moose)
Who liked to drink a lot of juice (Who liked to drink a lot of juice)
There was a crazy moose (There was a crazy moose)
Who liked to drink a lot of juice (Who liked to drink a lot of juice)
(Chorus)
Singing way-oh, way oh (Singing way-oh, way-oh!)
Way-up, way-up, way-up way-up(Way-up, way-up, way-up. way-up)
Way oh, way oh (Way oh, way oh)
Way-up, way-up, way-up, way-up (Way-up, way-up, way-up way-up)
The moose’s name was Fred…… he liked to drink his juice in bed
He drank his juice with care……but he spilt some in his hair
All his hair went stiff…….so he combed it in a quiff
His friends began to laugh……so he had to take a bath
As the water went down……Fred the moose began to drown
(chorus this time only:)
Singing glug-glug-glug-glug etc.
Now let’s all count to five……Fred the moose is back alive
(Singing way-oh way-oh…etc.)
Camp over for another year!
Posted by akela in : Cubs , 2 commentsWhat a camp we had. 4 days away expecting rain most of the time from what we were told! but we instead had gloriously hot periods throughout the weekend. I think the cubs only put their waterproofs on once.
A big thank you must go out to all the leaders who gave up their own time to help in the running of a superb camp.
The cubs hopefully enjoyed many new experiences over the weekend, and i know many of them want to go canoeing again. Especially the ones that asked to jump out of their boats!!!!!
There are a number of photos of the camp on the cub website for those registered to take a look and see what fun we were having.
We now look forward to May 2009 for May Bank Holiday camp and County camp July 3rd-5th 2009.

End of term Swim and BBQ July 15, 2008
Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a commentCubs ended the summer term this evening with our annual swim and BBQ at Blackwell Court. On one of the warmest nights to date it was lovely and sunny and the cubs enjoyed splashing around in the pool.
For the first time in a long time, cubs demolished 60 sausages and 40 burgers as well as a few liters of pop and 30 cakes.
This evening we said farewell to Limmershin (Amy) who is moving house and will be joining a new scout group in Bristol. We wish her good luck for the future.
We also said goodbye to Benny who is moving back to Thailand. We hope he continues his scouting.
We also wished Llionos and Michael best wishes for her wedding next week.
All the cubs now have a few months off from cubs returning on Tuesday 16th September.
19 cubs will be going to ABH camp where we will be overloaded with pirates for 4 days. Don’t forget your costumes cubs!!!!
Leaders Thank You Day July 12, 2008
Posted by akela in : Cubs , add a commentSome of St David’s leaders spent the afternoon attending the County run Thank You Day.
A day of Blackwell activities and also a THANK YOU of Champagne and Strawberries for all leaders and their families.
The leaders were able to take part in activities we don’t usually get to go on as we have cubs or beavers with us and their is never time.
Some of the cub and beaver leaders attended the day and all seemed to enjoy themselves.
